Night Owl's Lament

(Behold... I like to write poetry! Enjoy!)

This midnight begs my eyelids rest
Today fades to tomorrow
While deeper breath consumes my chest
A moment I will borrow

A fool to think tomorrow's sun
Will smile and bow to greet me
I'll kid myself and think I've won
When I'm asleep completely

And then when night breaks into day
And thoughts resume their thinking
The morning sun will have its way
And laugh as I wake, blinking

Oh wretched day! Oh brightest sun!
How do you come so quickly?
You hide your face when nighttime falls
And always seem to trick me
